Ara: Police on Wednesday arrested the mukhiya of Masarh panchayat Sri Kumar Singh for assaulting the headmaster of an upgraded middle school Krishna Sagar Mishra at Masarh village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district on Tuesday. The injured headmaster was admitted to Ara sadar hospital. Police, on the direction of Bhojpur SP arrested the culprit from his residence at Masarh.
Mishra said the mukhiya of Masarh village called him to his residence on some pretext. When he went there, the mukhiya, an LJP leader who had unsuccessfully contested the 2010 assembly election from Ara assembly constituency thrashed him till he fell unconscious. The headmaster said after he gained consciousness, he immediately went to the SP and sought protection. Later, he was admitted to Ara sadar hospital.
Bhojpur SP Naveen Chandra Jha said the mukhiya has been arrested and stern action would be taken against him. Sri Kumar Singh said Mishra used to tease women teachers despite several warning and the teachers had complained against him. He said Mishra was earlier assaulted by villagers for teasing lady teachers. When asked about charges against him, Mishra strongly refuted them and alleged the mukhiya demands money from him per month.
Teachers Ram Jeet Singh, Sunil Kumar and others vehemently condemned the incident and said teaching in schools might be affected if teachers were assaulted. They demanded stern action against the guilty and safety for the teachers.
